Tiran Island boat trip from Sharm El Sheikh

Escursioni Sharm connects you with verified local operators for the Tiran Island boat trip from Sharm El Sheikh: a full day at sea heading for the reefs of the Tiran strait, between snorkelling, sun and open water, booking with no prepayment and paying on site.

Where it is and why you go

Tiran Island closes the mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba, opposite the Sharm coastline: you reach it in about an hour's sailing. You do not land on the island (a protected, militarised area): the trip revolves around the four reefs in a row named after nineteenth-century cartographers — Jackson, Woodhouse, Thomas and Gordon. These coral walls are frequented by turtles, pelagic fish and, with some luck, dolphins during the crossing.

How the day unfolds

  1. Hotel pick-up around 8:00 am and boarding at the harbour.
  2. Sailing towards the Tiran strait (about 1 hour).
  3. 2-3 snorkelling stops on the reefs chosen according to the day's conditions.
  4. Lunch on board, normally included, and relaxing in the sun.
  5. Return in the late afternoon, around 4:00-5:00 pm.

The formula is similar to Ras Mohammed, but with a different feel: more open sea, often larger boats and a stronger sense of a "day out on the water" compared to the park. On clear days you can see the outline of the Saudi coast across the strait from the deck.

What to bring and how to prepare

A short, tried-and-tested list: high-factor sunscreen (reapply after every swim), a peaked hat, sunglasses, a towel and a t-shirt or rash vest for snorkelling so you do not burn your back in the water. If you have your own mask, bring it: the onboard ones do their job, but a personal fit makes the difference. In winter add a fleece or a windbreaker for the return sail, when the wind picks up. If you suffer from seasickness, take your remedy before boarding, not when the sea is already moving.

Tiran or Ras Mohammed: which to choose

The classic question, an honest answer. Ras Mohammed has the more spectacular reef and White Island, and is the first choice if you only do one boat trip. Tiran makes sense as a second sea day, when the wind favours the sheltered reefs of the strait, or if you simply want another day on a boat without repeating the same spots. Certified divers can ask about dive trips on these same reefs: see the diving price comparison.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Tiran Island trip cost?
The indicative price is €26-40 per person, normally including transfers, lunch on board and snorkelling equipment. Prices verified in October 2026, varying by season and operator.
Do you land on Tiran Island?
No: the island is a protected area and cannot be visited. The trip is a full day on a boat with 2-3 snorkelling stops on the Jackson, Woodhouse, Thomas and Gordon reefs.
Tiran or Ras Mohammed: which is better?
For a single trip we recommend Ras Mohammed (richer reef and White Island). Tiran is perfect as a second sea day or when conditions favour the strait.

Yes: the boats are large and stable, life jackets are available and the stops are in sheltered waters. Bring sunscreen, a hat and something for possible seasickness.
Do I pay in advance?
No. You book via WhatsApp with no prepayment and pay on site, directly to the operator.
